A Fresh New Start

The new year often brings out the best in people. This is the time of the year when one marks out various goals and resolutions.

Whether it is on their new planners (probably attained through drinking 20 cups of coffee) or on electronic calendars, one thing is for certain.

This is one way to keep people preoccupied for the next hour or so as they spend their time plotting away their schedules for the next upcoming months.

  1. Start going to the gym. Workout at least 30 minutes per day, four times once a week.
  2. Go vegan. Try out the new keto diet. Eat a balanced meal.
  3. Read 3 books on the New York Times Best Seller. Read more.
  4. Plan a 4 days and 3 nights get away at El Nido Palawan. Take a vacation every 6 months. Catch up and have coffee with friends
  5. ________

I, however am not like most people.

For starters, I am not an avid collector of stickers. I do prefer giving them out to random strangers I bump into at various coffee shops.

I am also not a big fan of coffee too.

ANNNND Contrary to the EXCITEMENT that most people would feel, the new year often brings out mixed emotions in me.

HAPPY. For being blessed with another day.

DREAD. For what has yet to come.

SCARED. To let go of the old and start a new.

Those are the 3 emotions that keep swirling in my mind and heart on most new year eves. This feeling would eventually reach to new heights the moment the clock strikes 12.

So to settle out all the uneasiness in me, I’d like to take this moment to jot down the Best 3 epiphanies that have dawned to me in the year of 2018.

1. Hard work won’t betray.

In everything that you do, do you best and the rest will follow.

Believe in your capabilities because no one else will.

Confidence and effort are the cornerstones to success.

2. Relationships take time to build.

Lasting friendship take a lifetime to create.

Make an effort to: Connect. Keep in touch. Say hello.

Celebrate success together. Share hardships together.

3. Life is too short to be spent worrying.

Our lifetime is short. We all go. It just a matter of when.

Life is beautiful. Life is meant to be enjoyed not fussed over.

Give and receive. I think that’s what makes life more memorable.

And yes I’m quite aware that this post is a good 8 days late, however I’d like to see things in this perspective.

A new year doesn’t always have to start on the 1st of January. It could always begin everyday when you simply want it to. 😊

So what are your thoughts?

What are you Top 3 Realisations for the Year 2018.

Can’t wait to hear from you

❤️ Eva

  1. Your list of three can be applied to everyone in any year. Perfect.

It’s easy to get caught up in the moment, especially on New Years day. Some of us create these huge plans only to see them fizzle by mid January.

Goals are nice but reality is much better.

  2. Hello and Happy New Year! Wish you all the best
Well my best realizations for 2018 were mostly I was convinced that exercise should be a habit and life style and so it was (I hated workout my whole life) …I learned to enjoy my own company and embrace it and some other lessons ( you can check my post if you want it’s a bit long 😊) and of course all what you mentioned is great, I already practice most of them despite the ups and downs and I share with you my thoughts towards the new year I also have mixed feelings, and fear beats excitement most of the times because I’m a very realistic person…

    1. Thank you for dropping by. Happy happy new year to you as well.
I’ve check out your realisations and again I’m glad I did.

What you wrote was beautiful, most especially this line “Following your dreams is essential but helping others fulfilling their dreams is good too!”

      I too dream of that.

And about enjoying your own company and embracing it. That’s definitely great! That’s not the easiest to do.

I for one can manage to go to a restaurant and eat by myself while others can’t. And I do enjoy that occasionally. I call this ME time. We do definitely need ME time once in a while.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who is having mixed feelings about the new year.😊

People come and people go. It’s truly difficult to find a gem hidden beneath all the rubble. Don’t let that get to you .😊

  5. This new year is a “fresh start” for our 23-year-old grandson who is here to live with us for a while from Switzerland. Seeing the USA afresh through his inquisitive eyes is wonderful. I am looking forward to each new day as a fresh start… each new day an opportunity to see the world with optimism… each new day a chance to make a positive difference somewhere somehow. I pray that your “DREAD. For what has yet to come,” and your “SCARED. To let go of the old and start a new,” will change to GRATEFUL ANTICIPATION and JOY. I’ll check back and see how you’re doing. Thank you for following JanBeek. Keep on LOVING!
